DO I NEED A CONSULTATION FIRST?
We start with a free 15-minute phone consultation. Then we schedule one 45-minute in-person consultation with the parent where I gather information about you, your child, your family members, and your child’s biological and social history and how this is impacting the current situation. We also discuss the goals you have for your parenting relationship going forward. Weekly Play therapy sessions and/or Parenting Counseling sessions will usually follow.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A PLAY THERAPY SESSION?
Together, in each session, I will use evidenced-based psychotherapy models to treat the problems your child is experiencing. This may include a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy, Child Centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, DIRFloorTime, and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy. The goal is to allow your child to express themself naturally through play.
HOW AM I INVOLVED AS A PARENT IN MY CHILD'S THERAPY?
Together we will process the current state of your family relationships and set goals for where you want them to be. For example, if you are wondering how to get your child to change a disrupted behavior, we will assess the current situation and discuss the progress you’re hoping to see.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD NEEDS THERAPY?
Your child behaves erratically at school or at home and has difficulty settling down.
Your child struggles to control their emotions and has outbursts regularly.
Your child has a diagnosis of ADHD and you’re looking for additional support beyond medication.
Your child has anxiety and you worry that the family can’t manage on their own.
Your child has a hard time in social situations and lacks the self-esteem to make solid friendships.
Your child has not responded to your parenting style no matter what you have tried.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I do not participate in insurance plans. Sessions may be covered through your out-of-network plan. I provide a receipt for services for submission to your insurance provider for reimbursement. NOTE: Because I am an out-of-network provider, it’s important for you to contact your insurance company for reimbursement details prior to your initial visit, as my fees are non-refundable. I am licensed to provide services to New York residents.
WHICH FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
Cash, Check, Zelle.
Why Play Therapy?
